Licensed Practical Nurse/Per Diem

Job Description

SUMMARY:


Working under the supervision of the RN on site. The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents and the day to day supervision of nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. Supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state and local standards and guidelines and regulations that govern our facility to ensure that the highest quality care is maintained at all times.


 


Job Responsibilites & Functions:


 


Directs the day to day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines.


Ensures that all residents are assessed and evaluated as per policy and procedure throughout their stay by reviewing resident's plan of care. Coordinate nursing services to ensure that the resident's total regimen of care is maintained.


Prepares and administers medications as ordered by the physician in accordance with current federal, state and local standards. Ensure that an adequate supply of floor stock medications, medical supplies and equipment is on hand to meet nursing needs of the residents.


 


Administers professional services such treatments of catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/ bandages, packs, colostomy and drainage bags, etc. as required.


 


Completes and files required records/forms/charts upon the resident's admission and residence.


Monitors nursing care to ensure that all residents are treated fairly and with kindness, dignity and respect. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report and investigate all allegations of resident abuse and or misappropriation of resident property.


Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter- departmental personnel as well as other departments within the facility to ensure that nursing services and activities can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents.


Other duties as assigned.


 


 


JOB REQUIREMENTS:


 


Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holding a valid license to practice as a licensed practical nurse in the State of New Jersey.


Has understanding of, affection for, and desire to work with the aging.


Adaptable and able to manage competing priorities and crisis.


Tactful and courteous with residents, families, practitioners and others.


Able to work in cooperation with other staff members.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:


Must be able to pass the facility's initial and annual physical examination.


Must be able to perform the essential duties associated with this position, either with or with reasonable accommodation.


Requires lifting, moving and carrying of supplies and equipment.


Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
