Job Description

he Actors Fund Home, an assisted living, skilled nursing, accredited dementia care and subacute rehabilitation center located in Englewood, NJ, and a recipient of the U.S. News and World Report's coveted "Best Nursing Homes in America, "seeks a Nursing Supervisor to provide direct nursing care to residents


SUMMARY:



  • Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, directing and evaluating the orientation process and mandatory in-services for all employees. Planning and organizing and implementing educational programs for Nurses, CNAs, CMAs and HHA's to meet the mandated in-services and additional in-services to meet facility needs. Maintain employee health procedures.

  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the Infection Control Program for the facility in accordance with current federal, state and local standards.

  • Responsible for supervising the day to day nursing activities of the facility during your tour of duty. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern our facility and as may be required by the Director of Nursing (DON), to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.


Job responsibilites & Functions:



  • Assist the DON in directing day to day functions of the nursing department in accordance with current rules and regulations from the New Jersey Department of Health and the Actors Fund policies and procedures.



  • Ensure that the facility is well staff with a sufficient number of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) or Registered Nurses (RN), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), Certified Medication Aide (CMA) and Home Health Aide (HHA) to ensure that routine nursing care is provided to meet the daily nursing care needs of each resident. This responsibility also includes scheduling, payroll and working on the unit as staff nurse if needed.



  • Participate in the development, revisions and implementation of nursing policies and procedures. To make sure that the nursing staff adheres and is in compliance. This responsibility also includes completing medical forms, audits, reports, evaluations, charting, reviewing incident reports and follow ups, initiating investigations for complaints, medication room checks and all other nursing issues as designated by the DON.



  • In the absence of the Administrator and the DON has administrative authority. Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter- department personnel as well as other departments within the facility to ensure that nursing services and activities can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents. Participate in employee performance evaluations and ensure that disciplinary action is administered fairly and without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex, religion, handicap or marital status. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.



  • Ensure that all employees upon hire meets the health requirements by the State of New Jersey and DOH regulations to include PPD testing, history and physical examinations, Hepatitis B administration and other pertinent information. Above records will be kept current and updated annually and as needed.



  • Ensure that all employees meet their annual mandatory in-services through Relias Learning or through group or 1:1 in-services. Staff educator will schedule outside speakers to introduce current health topics. Facility educator will ensure that all employees are in compliance with the DOH regulations and policy and procedures of the AFN.



  • Ensure that all employees are in good health and able to complete their assignments. Any health issues or problems during working hours will be evaluated to determine appropriate interventions.



  • Assist the MDS Coordinator in the Care Planning process including planning, scheduling and documenting. Review resident care plans for appropriate resident goals, problems, interventions and revisions based on nursing needs.



  • Maintain and monitor all electronic charting for accuracy.


Participate in Quality Assurance programs, and any other program to ensure that the facility provides the highest quality care.


Will educate all staff to be able to understand the concepts of Comfort Matters Dementia Care, its purpose and philosophy to enhance the delivery of compassionate, evidence- based dementia care which will improve the quality of person centered care for residents with dementia. Will monitor proficiency of all staff in the Comfort Matters competencies to include knowledge, skills and abilities needed to provide person- centered care practice to residents with dementia.



  • Performs other related duties as necessary.


PERSONNEL SUPERVISED: Nursing Supervisor will be responsible for RNs, LPNs, CMAs, CNAs and HHAs working on the unit.


 


BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY: Keep abreast of economic conditions/ situations and recommend to the DON adjustments in nursing services that ensure the continued ability to provide quality of care.


CORE REQUIREMENTS:


Must possess a current valid New Jersey license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.


Minimum 2 years experienced as a Nursing Supervisor in long term facility other related health care facility.


Knowledge of electronic charting, EMAR and ETAR a plus.


Must be competent in supervision and leadership and able to work in cooperation with other staff members.


Should possess strong leadership qualities that promote team building, professionalism and organizational dedication.


Should be adaptable to change and able to meet crisis and emergencies. Be able to work under pressure with interruptions.


Must have strong leadership qualities that promote team building, professionalism and organizational dedication.


Must be tactful and courteous with residents, families, practitioners and others.


Must have an understanding of, affection for, and a desire to work with the aging


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:


Requires lifting, moving and carrying of supplies and equipment. Must be able to perform the essential duties associated with this position, either with or without reasonable accommodation.


Communicates orally and/or in writing with residents, families, co-workers, other professionals and the public.


Must be able to pass the facility's physical examination upon employment and annually thereafter.


Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
