Patient Transport Driver NEW JERSEY


Award winning Actors Fund Home, recently named one of the best Nursing Homes by US News and World Report, in Englewood, NJ, seeks a Full TIME Driver.


SUMMARY: The driver is responsible for transporting residents to and from doctor's appointments and other activities as listed on The Home's driving schedule. The driver is also responsible for the maintenance of both Actors Fund vehicles and must perform other related duties as directed by supervisor.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


Must be able to interact with all residents and staff.


Drives residents to and from doctor's appointments and other activities as directed by the Concierge and/or Supervisor.


Assists residents when boarding and disembarking from The Home's vehicles.


Must ensure that all passengers follow safety procedures, including fastening seat belts, prior to moving the vehicle.


 


OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


Must ensure that any maintenance issues concerning the mini-van or the mini-bus are reported to the Supervisor, Director of Facilities Operations and/or the Administrator immediately.


Must be able to drive in Manhattan, New York and other New York City boroughs.


Must ensure that the fuel in both the mini-van and the mini-bus is filled on a regular basis and as needed.


Must be knowledgeable of the immediate driving area.


Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.

SPECIAL INTERACTIONS (INTERNAL CONSTITUENTS):


The Driver interacts a large part of the time with the concierge on duty and with residents and nursing staff.


SPECIAL INTERACTIONS (EXTERNAL CONSTITUENTS):


Interacts with NY staff, doctor's offices and donors.


 


BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY: None


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Must have a valid New Jersey driver's license with a clean driving record.


Must have the ability to work effectively under pressure and with interruptions.


Must show discretion in the handling of confidential information.


Must be compassionate and capable of rendering physical assistance to the residents as needed.


Must have Basic First Aid and CPR training.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:


Must work two Saturdays per month.


Must be able to drive a 14 passenger mini-bus and be able to bend and strap down residents in their wheelchairs.


Must be able to stay late on occasion if a resident's doctor appointment unexpectedly runs late.


Must complete in-services as directed by The Home's Staff Educator.


Must have an understanding of, affection for, and desire to work with the aging.


Must wear his/her uniform every day. ( Uniform supplied by the Actors Fund)


Must be able to perform the essential duties associated with this position, either with or without reasonable accommodation.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
